In Memory

Glenn Cobos

April 9th, Glen lost his long battle with cancer. He is safe, pain free and happy now with his Lord. We all have funny stories and great memories of Glen, I am sure that is how he would like to be remembered.

Glenn Valadez Cobos, age 46, of Odessa, went to meet his heavenly father the morning of Monday, April 8, 2013.

Glenn was born in Odessa, Texas on August 30, 966 and attended Odessa High School where he excelled in track and field as a pole vaulter. He graduated from OHS in 1984. After high school, Glenn left town to work in the retail sports market. He later returned to Odessa where he was an Outside Salesman for Odessa Pumps.

Glenn was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved fishing. He was a member of the Silver Bullet Bass Busters Fishing Club where he won numerous awards which included Angler of the Year. Glenn's passion was chasing the "largemouth bass". Glenn had a friendly personality and a carefree attitude in which he never met a "stranger".

Glenn is survived by his loving parents, Lorenzo Sr. and Julie Cobos of Odessa, Texas; two brothers, JR Cobos and wife Jennifer, and Anthony Cobos, both from Odessa; nephew, Terry Cobos and niece, Kali Cobos, also of Odessa; and one great nephew, Aden Cobos; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

There will be a rosary Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. to be held in the Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home chapel. A funeral service will take place at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on 2633 Conover Ave. in Odessa on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Michael officiating.

Glenn fought a long and very courageous battle against cancer. Glenn's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Khandelwal and the staff of Odessa/West Texas Cancer Center and Home Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that all donations be made to Home Hospice, 516 N. Texas, Odessa, Texas 79761.

Just hearing that "C" word
Scares me half to death
My life was spinning downward
My body felt like it was out of breath
I knew that my life was going to change
You're a coward the way you attack
You make my body feel all strange
But I am here to take it back

Cancer you're a coward
Because you attack from within
You speed up our lives faster
That it should be a sin

I have gotten my inspiration
From real family and friends
You will not get me with your intimidation
I will fight you to the bitter end

Yes cancer you may get to me
Though just mark my word
I know that one day I will be cancer free
That day will be when I walk with the Lord

So try as you may
And do as you might
I am here to stay
You're in for one hell of a fight
